GoDaddy advertises its Economy plan at $5.99 a month, describing that as fifty percent off a regular price of $11.99. However, the plan does not renew at $11.99. It renews at $551.63 for the next three years, which works out to $15.32 a month. We compare GoDaddy directly with Bluehost, a Newfold Digital brand, in Bluehost vs GoDaddy.
So the renewal sits 28 percent above the price the discount was calculated from. That is not a subtlety buried in the terms; it is the arithmetic of the offer itself.
Is GoDaddy Good in 2026?
Not for hosting. In fact, independent monitoring records 751 milliseconds on its shared plans and 99.76 percent uptime, the weakest figures in a group of 23 hosts tested by the same project. Its managed WordPress product is a different matter entirely, and reviews that blur the two are describing something you probably are not buying.
GoDaddy Is Two Hosts
This is the finding that explains most of the contradictory reviews online.
For instance, one benchmarking project measured GoDaddy Managed WordPress at 361 milliseconds and GoDaddy shared hosting at 751 milliseconds, calling the split striking and attributing it to two completely different infrastructure stacks. We set GoDaddy against managed WordPress at Kinsta in Kinsta vs GoDaddy.
The managed product records 75 milliseconds global TTFB, fifth fastest of 29 hosts tested, with 99.99 percent uptime across 525,600 checks over a full year. Meanwhile, the shared product fails the same project’s load test outright.
Therefore a review praising GoDaddy speed is usually describing the managed line. A review condemning it is usually describing the shared line. Both can be accurate at once, and neither tells you about the other.
⚠️ This review covers the shared hosting, because that is what the Economy plan is and what most people mean by GoDaddy hosting.

Speed
Every figure here comes from a named project with its window stated. We run no tests of our own.
Shared hosting records 751 milliseconds TTFB in the 2026 benchmark, against 450 to 500 milliseconds for the mid-field and under 400 for the leaders. Uptime came to 99.76 percent between November 2025 and June 2026, and the load test failed because the servers could not handle it. We set GoDaddy against a managed cloud server in Cloudways vs GoDaddy.
Besides that, a separate twelve-month study using UptimeRobot recorded 380 milliseconds at idle, 1,200 milliseconds at 100 concurrent users, and 99.87 percent uptime.
Managed WordPress is the opposite story: 344 milliseconds average TTFB, 99.99 percent uptime, 35 milliseconds under load.
The Hardware Behind the Managed Numbers
Here the managed product has its own problem, and it is worth stating because the speed figures hide it.
The same project scores GoDaddy Managed WordPress at 3.8 out of 10 on hardware, the lowest allocation of any managed WordPress host in its test group. The fast delivery comes from Cloudflare edge caching sitting in front of the server rather than from the server itself.
For cached blog traffic that trade works. For WooCommerce or anything dynamic that bypasses the cache, it caps what the plan can do — the same distinction we drew about Kinsta applies here in reverse.
Price and Renewal
In practice, the Economy plan asks $215.64 upfront for 36 months. Inside that window nothing changes, so a three-year total of $215.64 places it third among the six shared plans we have priced.
However, extend to six years and the picture inverts. The renewal of $551.63 brings the total to $767.16, against $407.28 for Hostinger and $503.28 for Bluehost across the same period — the full field is here.
The multiplier is 2.56 from the promotional rate. More usefully, the renewal exceeds the struck-through regular price by 28 percent, which is unusual enough to be worth checking yourself before signing.

What Renews Separately
First, SSL is free for one year on Economy, then $119.99 a year. Other GoDaddy plans include SSL for the life of the plan, so this charge applies specifically to the cheapest tier.
Meanwhile, the free domain renews at $21.99 to $22.99 depending on extension. Microsoft 365 email comes free for a year and then bills at its standard rate.
One published review counted $345.39 a year in pre-checked upsells at checkout. We could not verify that figure independently and report it as their count rather than ours — we priced comparable catalogues elsewhere.
Support
Still, GoDaddy answers the phone, and it does so in more countries than most. For a first-time site owner that is genuine value, and it is the strongest thing on this page.
Chat and phone run around the clock. Nobody publishes controlled measurement of response times for any host, so this criterion rests on description rather than data throughout our site.
Who Owns It
GoDaddy Inc. is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange, which means its ownership and finances can be read from a filing rather than a press release rather than a press release.
That has a consequence worth stating plainly. A public company answers to shareholders quarterly, and the pricing structure above reads like a company that has optimized for renewal revenue rather than for the renewing customer.
One published review lists five security breaches between 2019 and 2023, including a multi-year intrusion discovered in 2023. We report that as their count.
What We Don’t Love
The renewal exceeds the regular price. Fifty percent off $11.99 should not renew at $15.32.
Shared hosting placed last on uptime among the 23 hosts that project tested, and its load test did not complete.
SSL at $119.99 applies only to the cheapest plan, which is the plan bought by the people least able to absorb it. What to untick before paying is covered in avoiding checkout upsells.

How We Research
Pricing comes from GoDaddy’s own pages and from published analyses that state the figures they read and when. Performance figures are attributed to named projects with their windows and test counts. Where a claim comes from a single review we could not verify, we say so rather than adopting it.
We run no tests of any kind. Our five criteria are on our About page.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Economy plan renews at $551.63 for a further three years, which is $15.32 a month. That is 28 percent above the $11.99 regular price the introductory discount is calculated from, and 2.56 times the advertised $5.99.
Its shared hosting is. One benchmark recorded 751 milliseconds TTFB and 99.76 percent uptime, the weakest of 23 hosts tested, with the load test failing. GoDaddy Managed WordPress runs on different infrastructure and records 344 milliseconds.
Because GoDaddy sells two products on separate infrastructure. Managed WordPress measured 361 milliseconds against 751 for shared hosting in the same benchmark. A review praising or condemning GoDaddy speed is usually describing one line without naming it.
On the Economy plan, after the first year, at $119.99 annually. Other GoDaddy plans include SSL for the life of the plan, so the charge applies specifically to the cheapest tier.
GoDaddy Inc. is a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Unlike most hosts in our reviews, its ownership and financial position can be read directly from regulatory filings.
GoDaddy
Summary
A strong registrar with a phone line, attached to the weakest shared hosting figures we have published.
The Verdict
GoDaddy earns 2.7, well below the five hosts we reviewed before it, and the shared hosting is why.
Of course, choose it if you want a domain registrar with a phone line and you are hosting elsewhere. That combination is genuinely reasonable, and the registrar business is what the company is actually good at.
Skip it for hosting. Hostinger costs half as much at every horizon, and Bluehost costs less over six years, answers the phone as well, and does not fail a load test.
