Cloudways vs ChemiCloud is the rare comparison where both hosts dropped requests under load. In the 2026 benchmarks, Cloudways on its weakest cloud answered at 288 ms with a 1.7% error rate, and ChemiCloud answered at 1,068 ms with 4.2% failing. So the load test narrows the field rather than settling it. What settles it is uptime: Cloudways held 99.996% or better across five plans, and ChemiCloud recorded 99.76%. That is about 21 minutes of downtime a year against about 21 hours. ChemiCloud costs a fifth as much. For the same host against Hostinger, see Hostinger vs ChemiCloud.
Cloudways vs ChemiCloud: The Short Answer
Cloudways, at 4.1 against 3.8 in our reviews, for any site where being online matters. ChemiCloud is the cheaper buy for a quiet site: $89.64 for three years prepaid, a 45-day refund window, cPanel with email, and support that reviews praise. Its renewal is the open question, because the company shows it only at checkout.

A Fifth of the Price
ChemiCloud Starter bills all 36 months at $2.49, which is $89.64 paid up front. Cloudways charges $14.00 a month with no promotional term, which is $504.00 across the same stretch. That is 5.6 times as much over 36 months.
After three years the comparison loses its footing. ChemiCloud does not print its renewal: the plan table shows a struck-through $11.95 and the footnote sends you to checkout. Third-party pages quote $9.95, $11.95 and $12.95. Every one of those is below Cloudways’ flat rate, so ChemiCloud stays cheaper on any reading. Our page on hosting renewal prices records the range.
⚠️ Save the ChemiCloud checkout summary before paying, because it is the only place the company states the figure. And read the limits: Starter allows one website, 20 GB of NVMe storage, ten days of backups and a guidance figure of about 25,000 monthly visits, with extra inodes at $2.95 a month.

Both Dropped Requests, One Dropped Fewer
We run no tests, so these figures belong to Hostingstep. Its load test ramps to 100 concurrent visitors over 60 seconds. Cloudways on its Vultr High Frequency plan finished at 288 ms with a 1.7% error rate. ChemiCloud finished at 1,068 ms with 4.2% of requests failing.
Neither is a clean result, and it is worth saying so plainly. The difference is scale: roughly one request in sixty failing against roughly one in twenty-four, and almost four times the wait. A buyer choosing on load alone would take Cloudways, and would also consider a larger Cloudways server or a host with a clean result.
⚠️ Hosts with clean load results exist at both price levels. Scala Hosting’s shared plan finished at 48 ms with no errors, and WP Engine at 27 ms. Our roundup of hosting for high traffic ranks hosts by this test, and our list of hosting for ecommerce covers the sites that feel it most.

The Uptime Gap Is the Real Difference
A year holds 525,600 minutes. At 99.996% a site is offline for about 21 minutes a year; at 99.76% it is offline for about 21 hours. Cloudways recorded the first across five plans from October 2025 to May 2026. ChemiCloud recorded the second, and the same project, which has tracked it since 2021, scores it 6.1 of 10 overall and describes the trend as declining.
For a hobby site, a day of downtime spread across a year is an inconvenience. For a business site it is the number that decides the purchase, because the outage never lands at a convenient hour. Our guide to reading an uptime report explains why the count of outages matters alongside the percentage.
What ChemiCloud Gives You for the Money
ChemiCloud runs cPanel, so email lives in the account and every tutorial matches the screen. Its refund window is 45 days, excluding domains and add-ons, which is six weeks to test a real site. Reviews consistently praise its support, answered by chat and tickets around the clock, though there is no phone line and no measured response time.
It also publishes its limits, which many hosts do not. Knowing that Starter expects about 25,000 visits a month and holds one site lets you plan rather than guess. Our ChemiCloud review covers what we could and could not verify.
What Cloudways Gives You Instead
Cloudways runs a managed server on the cloud you choose. SSH, WP-CLI, Git deployment, staging and PHP version selection ship on every tier, and it runs any PHP application. Billing is by the hour, so stopping the server stops the bill, and you can resize it when traffic grows.
It leaves out what a shared host includes: no cPanel and no email, with mailboxes through Rackspace at about a dollar each per month, and phone support as a paid add-on. For a developer those are small costs, as our list of hosting for developers explains. For a first site they are friction.
Commitment: Prepay Against Pay-As-You-Go
ChemiCloud’s lowest rate asks for all 36 months on day one. The 45-day window covers the start of that commitment, not the middle, so a site that closes in year two has spent the rest. That is the price of the discount rather than a hidden term.
Cloudways asks for nothing in advance. For a project with an uncertain future, hourly billing is worth part of the difference. For a site you know you will keep, the prepayment is simply cheaper. Our guide to reading a hosting agreement covers what to check in either case.
The Five-Year View
Over five years the gap keeps its shape. Cloudways charges $14.00 every month, and ChemiCloud charges its renewal, somewhere between $9.95 and $12.95 on the quoted figures. So the monthly difference narrows after month 36, and the three prepaid years at $2.49 keep ChemiCloud far ahead on the running total. Our page on what web hosting costs runs both shapes across the field.
Support on Both
ChemiCloud answers chat and tickets around the clock, and reviews praise it consistently, which is worth something even without a stopwatch. There is no phone line. Cloudways answers chat and tickets and sells phone support as an add-on.
Neither publishes a measured response time, and no controlled test of hosting support exists in the sources we found. So support does not separate these two, though the reputation gap favors ChemiCloud.
Moving From ChemiCloud to Cloudways
The usual path runs from cheap shared hosting to a server once a site starts to earn. Cloudways provides a migration plugin for WordPress, and the domain can stay at its registrar and point at the new server, as our guide to pointing a domain to a new host explains.
Move email deliberately, because Cloudways will not host it. And time the move for the end of the prepaid term rather than the middle, since the three years at $2.49 are already paid.
Who Owns Them
DigitalOcean acquired Cloudways in 2022 and sells the cloud underneath many of its servers. ChemiCloud’s site carries a copyright line for CChosting, Inc., and beyond that its ownership is not documented in anything we read.
That gap matters more here than usual, because ChemiCloud asks for three years in advance and does not publish the renewal. A buyer is trusting both the host and whoever sets its prices in year four.
One practical note on the prepaid term. If the site is new and untested, the six-week refund window is the part of that commitment you can undo, so use it deliberately: install the real site, invite real visitors, and check the busiest hour before the window closes.
Which Site Belongs Where
A personal site, blog or portfolio. ChemiCloud, where three cheap years and a six-week refund window outweigh a load result the site may never test.
A business site, store or membership site. Cloudways, or a host with a clean load result. Our list of hosting for membership sites covers the uncached case.
A project that may close within a year. Cloudways, for billing that stops when you do.
An owner who wants email and cPanel in one place. ChemiCloud, since Cloudways includes neither. Our guide to setting up email on your domain covers the alternative.
Where Each One Is Weakest
ChemiCloud is weakest on uptime and on the renewal. A record of 99.76% with a declining trend, a 4.2% failure rate under load and a second-term price visible only at checkout add up to real uncertainty for a site that earns.
Cloudways is weakest on price for a small site and on what it leaves out. Nearly six times the three-year cost buys uptime a quiet site may never need, and its own load result is not clean either. Our Cloudways review covers each cloud.

How We Research
We run no tests. Load, uptime and response figures come from Hostingstep’s 2026 benchmarks and reviews, each with its window. Prices and limits come from the providers’ own pages, read on 20 September 2026, and the ChemiCloud renewal range comes from third-party pages because the company shows it only at checkout.
Where a result is poor we say so on both sides rather than only on the cheaper host. The criteria behind our scores are on our about page, and our comparison of Bluehost against ChemiCloud sets it beside a shared rival from Newfold Digital.
Cloudways vs ChemiCloud FAQ
ChemiCloud, by a wide margin: $89.64 for 36 months prepaid against $504.00 at Cloudways. Its renewal is quoted by third parties at $9.95 to $12.95, all below Cloudways’ flat $14.00, so it stays cheaper on any reading.
Cloudways, though neither result is clean. In the 2026 load test Cloudways’ weakest cloud answered at 288 ms with 1.7% of requests failing, and ChemiCloud at 1,068 ms with 4.2% failing. Scala Hosting and WP Engine posted clean results.
It recorded 99.76% uptime in the project we cite, about 21 hours of downtime a year, with a declining trend and an overall score of 6.1 of 10. Cloudways held 99.996% or better, about 21 minutes.
The company shows it at checkout and in the client area rather than on the plan table, which shows a struck-through list price instead. Save the checkout summary, because it is the only place the figure appears.
No. Mailboxes come through Rackspace at about a dollar each per month. ChemiCloud, as a shared host with cPanel, handles email in the account.
The Verdict
Cloudways takes this, at 4.1 against 3.8, and uptime is the reason rather than load. About 21 minutes of downtime a year against about 21 hours is the difference between a site that is always there and one that is not, and no price makes that invisible on a business site.
ChemiCloud is the better buy for a quiet personal site, at a fifth of the cost with six weeks to change your mind. Keep the checkout summary, watch the renewal, and revisit the decision before month 37. If you move later, our guide to migrating web hosting covers the order.
