Kinsta vs Liquid Web is the closest these two price levels come. Kinsta Starter costs $1,260.00 across 36 months at a flat $35.00, and a Liquid Web managed VPS costs $1,188.00 at $33.00 a month on annual billing. That is about 6% apart, so price is not the argument. The argument is the kind of product. One is a WordPress platform with a measured load result. The other is a server with root access and a support response time in the contract. For the same host against Hostinger, see Hostinger vs Liquid Web.
Kinsta vs Liquid Web: The Short Answer
Kinsta, at 4.1 against 3.8 in our reviews, for a WordPress site. It answered every request in the benchmark load test, includes performance monitoring and an edge network, and needs no server administration. Liquid Web is the better choice when requirements are contractual, because it commits to a 59-second support response and 100% network uptime with credits, and gives you root.

Six Per Cent Apart
Liquid Web charges $33.00 a month on annual billing with no promotional term, which is $1,188.00 across 36 months. Kinsta charges $35.00 flat, which is $1,260.00. Neither price steps up at renewal, so the gap stays where it is.
⚠️ Liquid Web’s monthly option is disputed: one 2026 pricing guide reports $36.00 renewing at $72.00 on monthly billing, which we record as disputed. The annual figure is the one we can stand behind, and our page on hosting renewal prices records both readings.
Kinsta’s ceiling is different in kind. Starter includes 25,000 monthly visits and one site, so a successful month moves you up a tier. Liquid Web sells a server, so the limit is what the server can serve and you buy a bigger one when it will not.

Measured Against Contracted
We run no tests, so the Kinsta figures belong to Hostingstep. It finished the load test at 40 ms with every request answered and scores 8.8 of 10 on that project’s WordPress benchmark. Liquid Web does not appear in that project, which covers shared and managed WordPress plans rather than servers.
What Liquid Web offers instead is written commitment. Its service promise page states 100% network uptime backed by credits, and a 59-second response on phone and chat. Reviews published this year cite G2 and Trustpilot accounts of longer waits, so the promise is evidence of intent rather than proof of outcome.
⚠️ These are different kinds of evidence, and neither replaces the other. A counted load result tells you what happened under traffic. A network guarantee tells you what you get back if the network fails, and it covers the network rather than your server. Our guide to reading a hosting agreement covers how to read a credit.

The Managed WordPress Rival Is in the Same Group
Liquid Web belongs to CloudOne Digital, formed when One Equity Partners acquired it in April 2023, alongside Nexcess, StellarWP and Modern Tribe. Nexcess is the group’s managed WordPress line, which makes it the closer comparison to Kinsta than a VPS is.
We hold no prices or performance figures for Nexcess in our tables, so we will not rank it here. What we can say is that a buyer who wants managed WordPress rather than a server has an option inside the same company. It is worth pricing before choosing between a platform and a VPS.
What Root Access Is Actually For
Root lets you install what you like, tune the stack and run software Kinsta does not support. That matters for an application with fixed requirements, for compliance rules that demand isolation, or for a site that is not WordPress at all.
It also makes you responsible. A VPS with root is a machine you can break, and Liquid Web’s managed layer patches the operating system rather than your application. For a WordPress site with no unusual requirements, that responsibility buys nothing, which is the argument for Kinsta. Our list of hosting for developers covers who benefits.
What Kinsta Includes That a VPS Does Not
A container per site. Isolation without a machine to manage.
Performance monitoring in the plan. The tool that finds a slow plugin query, which our guide to testing your site speed properly explains is otherwise guesswork.
An edge network on every plan. Cloudflare Enterprise in front of the site, rather than something you configure.
Daily backups and staging. Included rather than assembled.
Support: A Number Against a Channel
Liquid Web commits to 59 seconds on phone and chat, every day of the year, which is unusual in a category that prefers adjectives. Kinsta answers chat and tickets around the clock and has no telephone line at any tier, and publishes no response time.
So for a business that must call someone when a server fails at night, Liquid Web is the one with a phone line. Neither publishes a measured response time from an independent test, and no controlled test of hosting support exists in the sources we found.
Two Ways to Grow
On Kinsta a site grows by moving up a visit tier, priced per site, so the bill follows traffic. On Liquid Web it grows by moving to a larger VPS, so the bill follows the resources you choose rather than the visitors who arrive.
Neither shape suits unpredictable spikes perfectly, and hourly billing is a third option. our list of hosting for multiple sites covers that shape, and our roundup of hosting for high traffic ranks hosts by the load test that a spike imitates.
Email and the Rest of the Account
Kinsta hosts no email, so mailboxes live with another provider. A Liquid Web VPS can run a mail server, though running your own mail is work most businesses should decline. Either way, our guide to setting up email on your domain covers the records that make mail arrive.
Which Site Belongs Where
A WordPress site, store or membership site. Kinsta, for the measured load result and the tooling built around WordPress. Our list of hosting for ecommerce covers the store case.
An application that is not WordPress. Liquid Web, because Kinsta hosts WordPress only.
Compliance rules or fixed stack requirements. Liquid Web, for root and dedicated resources.
A business that needs a support contract. Liquid Web, for the 59-second commitment and the credits.
Commitment and Leaving
Both bill monthly rather than by a long prepaid term, so neither locks you in for years. Liquid Web refunds managed VPS and cloud plans within 30 days, and Kinsta refunds within 30 days excluding domains.
Leaving differs in effort. A Kinsta site moves as a WordPress site, which is routine. A VPS you configured yourself moves only as fast as you can rebuild that configuration elsewhere, which is worth noting before you start. Our guide to migrating web hosting covers both. The domain can stay at its registrar either way. Our guide to pointing a domain to a new host covers that step.
Where Each One Is Weakest
Liquid Web is weakest on evidence and on effort. No benchmark project we cite measures its servers, reviews dispute its support promise, and root access means work that a managed platform absorbs.
Kinsta is weakest on scope and on commitments. It hosts WordPress only, includes no email, has no phone line, publishes no support response time, and our table holds no uptime percentage for it. Our Kinsta review prices the tiers.
Winners by Category
Price: Liquid Web, at $1,188.00 against $1,260.00 over 36 months. Load evidence: Kinsta, the only measured result here. Written commitments: Liquid Web, on uptime and support response. Server control: Liquid Web, with root. WordPress tooling: Kinsta, with monitoring, staging and an edge network. Visit caps: Liquid Web, which has none. Ease: Kinsta, with nothing to administer.

How We Research
We run no tests. Kinsta figures come from Hostingstep’s 2026 benchmarks with their windows. Liquid Web has no measurement row, because that project does not test servers, and we say so rather than borrow a figure. Its support and uptime terms come from its own service promise page.
Prices come from the providers’ own pages, read on 20 September 2026, and the disputed monthly figure from a 2026 pricing guide. We hold no figures for Nexcess, so we do not rank it. The criteria behind our scores are on our about page, and our comparison of Cloudways against Liquid Web sets the same host beside a cloud server.
Kinsta vs Liquid Web FAQ
Liquid Web, narrowly: $1,188.00 across 36 months at $33.00 a month on annual billing, against $1,260.00 at Kinsta’s flat $35.00. Neither price steps up at renewal.
Kinsta has the only measured result: 40 ms with every request answered in the 2026 load test. Liquid Web is not covered by that project, and offers a 100% network uptime commitment with credits instead.
Only if your application requires it, your compliance rules demand isolation, or you run something outside WordPress. For a standard WordPress site, root adds responsibility without adding capability.
In the same group: Nexcess, which belongs to CloudOne Digital alongside Liquid Web. We hold no prices or performance figures for it, so we do not rank it, but it is worth pricing before choosing between a platform and a VPS.
Liquid Web publishes a commitment: 59 seconds on phone and chat, with credits attached. Kinsta answers chat and tickets and has no phone line. Reviews this year dispute the 59-second promise, and neither host has an independent measurement.
The Verdict
Kinsta takes this on score, at 4.1 against 3.8. For a WordPress site it is measured where Liquid Web is promised. Monitoring, staging and an edge network come with the plan rather than with a server to configure.
Liquid Web earns the same money when the requirements are contractual or technical. That means a support response time in writing, resources reserved for you, root access, or an application that is not WordPress. And if what you want is managed WordPress from that company, price Nexcess rather than the VPS. Our page on what web hosting costs runs both totals further.
