Kinsta vs GreenGeeks (2026): The Cheap Host Won the Load Test

Kinsta vs GreenGeeks produces a result that is awkward for the expensive host. In the 2026 load test, GreenGeeks’ shared plan finished at 26 ms without an error and Kinsta finished at 40 ms with every request answered. Both are clean, and the cheaper one was quicker. GreenGeeks costs $106.20 across 36 months on a prepaid term against $1,260.00, so it is also about twelve times cheaper. What Kinsta still has is everything around the result: monitoring, isolation, an edge network and much stronger hardware.

Kinsta vs GreenGeeks: The Short Answer

GreenGeeks for a blog, a brochure site or a small store. It posted a clean load result, quicker than Kinsta’s, at a twelfth of the price for the first three years, with SSH and email included. Kinsta for a site that needs performance monitoring in the plan, a container of its own, an edge network on every page, or hardware that scores 8.8 rather than 5.0.

The Cheap Host Won the Load Test

We run no tests, so these figures belong to Hostingstep. Its load test ramps to 100 concurrent visitors over 60 seconds. GreenGeeks finished at 26 ms with no errors. Kinsta finished at 40 ms with every request answered.

Fourteen milliseconds apart is not something a visitor notices, and both sit in the group that served the burst without dropping anything. But the direction matters: a shared plan at $2.95 matched a managed platform at $35.00 on the measurement that covers carts, logins and search.

⚠️ One test is one test. It uses a fixed page on a bare install, and it says nothing about hardware headroom over hours, or about what happens at 500 visitors rather than 100. Our guide to testing your site speed properly covers what a single load result can and cannot tell you.

Where Kinsta Is Clearly Ahead

Hardware. 8.8 of 10 on that project’s WordPress benchmark against 5.0. That is the figure that shows up on sustained work rather than in a one-minute burst.

The edge network. Cloudflare Enterprise sits in front of every Kinsta plan. GreenGeeks advertises Cloudflare integration, and the benchmark project reports finding no integrated network, so this is one to verify in your own dashboard.

Monitoring. Application performance monitoring is in the Kinsta plan and nowhere on a GreenGeeks plan. On a slow site that is the difference between reading and guessing.

Isolation. A container per site, which shared hosting cannot promise at any price.

What each host leads on, split between the burst and everything else

Where GreenGeeks Is Clearly Ahead

Price. $106.20 for three years prepaid, or $370.20 on annual terms, against $1,260.00. Even the annual path is a third of the Kinsta figure.

Email and shell on shared. Mailboxes in cPanel, plus SSH, Git and WP-CLI, which is more than the price tier suggests and puts it in our list of hosting for developers. Kinsta hosts no email at all.

The load result. 26 ms without an error, which is the quicker of the two.

Environmental record. Wind energy credits equal to three times its electricity use through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, and EPA Green Power Partner records since 2009. Our GreenGeeks review explains that this is an offset rather than green power at the socket.

See Kinsta Plans →
Performance monitoring, a container per site and Cloudflare Enterprise on every plan, with hardware at 8.8 of 10. $35.00 a month flat.

The Renewal Is the Catch

GreenGeeks Lite opens at $2.95 and renews at $13.95, a step of 4.7× after one term, and sources disagree about whether the intro rate needs a 36-month or a 12-month commitment. On annual terms the three-year total rises to $370.20, because 24 of those months are billed at the renewal rate.

Kinsta has no step at all: $35.00 in year one and year five. So the gap narrows with time, from twelve times to about two and a half at the monthly rate. Our page on hosting renewal prices records both, including the term dispute.

Which Site Belongs Where

A blog, brochure site or small store. GreenGeeks, which handled the burst cleanly and costs a twelfth as much.

A site that is slow and nobody knows why. Kinsta, for the monitoring in the plan.

Readers spread across countries. Kinsta, for the edge network on every plan, or GreenGeeks plus a content network you add yourself, as our guide to setting up a CDN covers.

Client sites that must not affect each other. Kinsta, for the container per site, as our list of hosting for agencies explains.

A Note on the Green Claim

GreenGeeks buys wind energy credits equal to three times its electricity use and appears in EPA Green Power Partner records, which is more documentation than most hosts offer. It is an offset rather than green electricity reaching the servers.

Kinsta makes no comparable claim in the sources we read. If the environmental record is part of your decision, only GreenGeeks has a paper trail here. Our list of hosting for nonprofits covers other mission-driven programs.

One Site, or Several

GreenGeeks Lite allows one website, so a second project means a higher tier and a higher renewal. Kinsta Starter also covers one site, and adds a 25,000-visit allowance on top.

So neither entry plan suits a portfolio, and the shapes differ above it: GreenGeeks lifts the site count, Kinsta lifts the visit allowance and charges per site. Our list of hosting for multiple sites compares both against hosts that allow unlimited sites on one plan.

Which Result Matters for Your Site

For a cached blog or brochure site, both hosts are comfortably beyond what the site needs, and the price decides. The load result matters only as reassurance that a busy day will not break anything.

For a store or a member area, uncached pages reach the server on every click, all day. There the burst test is a start and hardware is the rest, which is where Kinsta’s 8.8 against 5.0 earns its place. Our list of hosting for ecommerce covers the store case, and our list of hosting for membership sites the other one.

Commitment and Leaving

GreenGeeks asks for a prepaid term for its best rate and refunds within 30 days, excluding domains and add-ons. Kinsta bills monthly with a 30-day window, so the sum at risk is one month rather than three years.

Leaving is easier from GreenGeeks, because a cPanel account exports in a standard format that another cPanel host can import. Kinsta runs its own dashboard, so moving away means moving the site. Our guide to migrating web hosting covers both routes.

Where Each One Is Weakest

GreenGeeks is weakest on hardware and on the renewal. A score of 5.0 limits sustained uncached work, the step to $13.95 is steep, and the integrated content network the benchmark could not find is an open question. Our table holds no uptime percentage for it either, only 25 counted outages.

Kinsta is weakest on price and scope. It costs about twelve times as much over the first three years, hosts WordPress only, includes no email, has no phone line, and no named project publishes its uptime.

How We Research

We run no tests. Load, hardware and outage figures come from Hostingstep’s 2026 benchmarks and reviews, each with its window, including its report of finding no integrated content network at GreenGeeks. Where our table holds no figure, as with uptime percentages for both hosts, the cell stays empty.

Prices come from the providers’ own pages, read on 20 September 2026, and we print both readings of the GreenGeeks intro term because sources disagree. The environmental records come from public partner listings. The criteria behind our scores are on our about page, and our comparison of Cloudways against GreenGeeks sets the same host beside a cloud server.

Kinsta vs GreenGeeks FAQ

Did GreenGeeks really beat Kinsta on speed?

On the 2026 load test, yes: 26 ms without an error against 40 ms with every request answered. Both results are clean, and fourteen milliseconds is not something a visitor notices, but the cheaper plan was quicker.

Which is cheaper, Kinsta or GreenGeeks?

GreenGeeks: $106.20 across 36 months on a prepaid term, or $370.20 on annual terms, against $1,260.00 at Kinsta. Its renewal of $13.95 narrows the monthly gap to about two and a half times.

What does Kinsta give for the difference?

Hardware at 8.8 of 10 against 5.0, Cloudflare Enterprise on every plan, application performance monitoring in the plan, and a container per site. GreenGeeks includes none of those.

Does GreenGeeks include a CDN?

It advertises Cloudflare integration, and the benchmark project reports finding no integrated network. Check your own dashboard, and add one yourself if it is not there.

Does either include email?

GreenGeeks does, through cPanel, along with SSH, Git and WP-CLI on shared hosting. Kinsta hosts no email at all.

The Verdict

For a blog, a brochure site or a small store, GreenGeeks is the better purchase, and the load test is why: it served a hundred simultaneous visitors at 26 ms without dropping one, at a twelfth of the Kinsta price for three years. Add email and a shell on a shared plan, and the value is hard to argue with.

Kinsta scores higher because a burst test is not the whole picture: hardware at 8.8, an edge network on every page, monitoring in the plan and a container of your own are what the money buys. Price the renewal at $13.95 before you decide, and remember the monthly gap is two and a half times rather than twelve. Our page on what web hosting costs runs both totals further.
