Kinsta vs InMotion Hosting is a seven-to-one comparison that narrows sharply. Kinsta Starter costs $1,260.00 across 36 months at a flat $35.00. InMotion Launch costs $179.64 on its three-year term, then renews at $13.99. So the first three years are seven times apart, and from month 37 the monthly bills are two and a half times apart instead. What does not narrow is the evidence: Kinsta answered every request in the load test, and no named project measures InMotion at all.
Kinsta vs InMotion: The Short Answer
Kinsta, at 4.1 against 3.8 in our reviews, for a WordPress site where uncached pages and measured performance matter. InMotion is the better buy for a small business: a seventh of the price for three years, US phone staff around the clock, unlimited email in the account and 90 days to change your mind.

Seven Times, Then Two and a Half
InMotion Launch bills 36 months at $4.99 and renews at $13.99, which is 2.8× over 36 months. Three years come to $179.64. Kinsta charges $35.00 from the first month with no promotional term, which is $1,260.00.
From month 37 the comparison changes shape. Kinsta still charges $35.00 and InMotion $13.99, so the gap falls from seven times to two and a half. Over five years InMotion totals about a quarter of the Kinsta figure rather than a seventh. Our page on hosting renewal prices lists both rates.
⚠️ InMotion Core is cheaper still, at $3.19 renewing to $10.99, with one site and ten mailboxes. Launch is the fairer match for a business, and InMotion’s renewals rise on shorter terms, up to $14.49 for Core. Kinsta’s ceiling is different: Starter includes 25,000 monthly visits and one site, so a busy site moves up a tier.

One Host Is Measured, the Other Is Not
We run no tests, so these figures belong to Hostingstep. Kinsta finished the load test at 40 ms with every request answered and scores 8.8 of 10 on that project’s WordPress benchmark. Its origin response is recorded at 525 ms, with lower figures at the edge where pages are cached.
InMotion has no measurement from a named project in our tables. The response and uptime ranges we hold for it come from sources we could not attribute to a single publication, so we set them aside rather than quote them. That is an evidence gap rather than a verdict, and it is part of why the scores differ.
⚠️ Our table also holds no uptime percentage for Kinsta from a named project, so reliability is not a line either host wins here. What Kinsta has is the load result, and for uncached pages that is the figure that matters. Our guide to reading an uptime report explains why we leave gaps visible.

What InMotion Includes for a Business
InMotion answers phone, chat and tickets around the clock from staff in the United States, and reviews return to that as the reason to choose it. Launch includes unlimited email accounts and NVMe storage, and the account runs standard cPanel, so every tutorial matches the screen.
It refunds for 90 days on plans bought for six months or longer, three times the usual window and long enough to move a real site and live with it. Shared plans have no monthly billing, so the long window and a short commitment cannot both apply. Our InMotion review covers the tiers.
What Kinsta Includes Instead
A container per site. Another customer’s traffic cannot reach yours, which shared hosting does not promise.
Performance monitoring in the plan. The tool that finds a slow plugin query rather than leaving you to guess, as our guide to testing your site speed properly explains.
An edge network on every plan. Cloudflare Enterprise in front of the site, which InMotion does not bundle.
Daily backups and staging. Part of the plan rather than an add-on.
Email Is the Hidden Cost
Kinsta hosts no email, so a business on Kinsta needs a separate provider. InMotion Launch includes unlimited accounts in the same cPanel as the site. For a company with three or four staff addresses, that is another bill every month on the Kinsta side.
Count it before comparing monthly rates, because it widens a gap that is already large. Our guide to setting up email on your domain covers the records that make mail arrive either way.
Which Result Matters for Your Site
For a brochure site or a blog behind a page cache, most visitors receive a stored copy and the load result is never tested. There the price gap decides, and it favors InMotion by a factor of seven.
For a store, a booking page or anything with logins, uncached pages reach the server on every click. There the measured result is the only guide available, and only one of these hosts has one. That asymmetry, rather than the monthly price, is what separates them.
Which Site Belongs Where
A store, a membership site or a site with logins. Kinsta, because those pages bypass the cache and it has the only load result here. Our list of hosting for ecommerce covers that case.
A small business with staff mailboxes and a phone habit. InMotion, for email in the account and someone to call. Our list of hosting for local business covers that shape.
An agency handing sites to clients. Kinsta, for isolation and monitoring.
A buyer who wants time to judge. InMotion, with 90 days rather than 30.
The Five-Year View
Neither price hides a surprise after the promotion. Kinsta stays at $35.00 and InMotion at $13.99. Over five years InMotion totals about a quarter of the Kinsta figure, and the ratio holds from then on. Add Kinsta’s separate email provider and it widens again.
Growing Past the Entry Plan
Kinsta Starter covers one site and 25,000 monthly visits, so growth means a higher tier priced per site. InMotion Launch lifts Core’s one-site limit and its shared resources stay shared, so growth there means a bigger tier or a VPS. Our list of hosting for multiple sites compares those shapes.
For a site whose traffic arrives in bursts, neither shape is ideal: a visit allowance is a ceiling and a shared account is a shared ceiling. Our roundup of hosting for high traffic covers hosts that price by server size instead.
Commitment and Leaving
InMotion’s best rate asks for 36 months up front, and its 90-day window covers the start of that term. Kinsta bills monthly with a 30-day window, so the sum at risk is one month rather than three years.
Leaving is easier from InMotion, because a cPanel account exports in a standard format that another cPanel host can import. Kinsta runs its own dashboard, so moving away means moving the site. Our guide to migrating web hosting covers both routes.
Who Owns Them
InMotion was founded in 2001 and describes itself as independent and never acquired. Kinsta’s ownership is not established in the sources we read, which is a gap rather than an implication.
For a buyer prepaying three years at InMotion, unchanged ownership is worth something, because renewal policy tends to follow owners. At Kinsta, billing monthly at a flat rate makes the question less pressing.
Where Each One Is Weakest
InMotion is weakest on evidence. No named project measures it, so its speed and uptime rest on reputation, and its shared plans cannot be bought monthly. It also bundles no edge network or monitoring.
Kinsta is weakest on price, scope and email. It is seven times the InMotion total for three years, hosts WordPress only, includes no email and has no phone line at any tier. Our Kinsta review prices the tiers.

How We Research
We run no tests. Kinsta figures come from Hostingstep’s 2026 benchmarks with their windows. For InMotion we found no measurement from a named project, and our tables say so rather than filling the cell. Prices, refund terms and support channels come from the providers’ own pages and from reviews published this year, read on 20 September 2026.
The criteria behind our scores are on our about page, and our comparison of Cloudways against InMotion sets the same host beside a cloud server.
Kinsta vs InMotion FAQ
InMotion, by a wide margin: $179.64 across 36 months on Launch against $1,260.00 at Kinsta. From month 37 it renews at $13.99 against Kinsta’s flat $35.00, so the gap narrows from seven times to two and a half.
Kinsta on the only named evidence. It finished the 2026 load test at 40 ms with every request answered. No named project measures InMotion in our tables, so its performance rests on reputation rather than figures.
InMotion Launch includes unlimited email accounts in the same cPanel as the site. Kinsta hosts no email at all, so a business needs a separate provider and another monthly bill.
InMotion on channels: phone, chat and tickets around the clock from US staff. Kinsta answers chat and tickets and has no phone line at any tier. Neither publishes a measured response time.
InMotion gives 90 days on shared plans bought for six months or longer, and 30 days on monthly, VPS and reseller plans. Kinsta refunds within 30 days and bills monthly.
The Verdict
Kinsta takes this on score, at 4.1 against 3.8, because its load result is the only measured figure in the comparison and its plan includes the monitoring, backups and edge network that InMotion does not bundle. For a store or a site with logins, that is the deciding difference. Our page on Kinsta against InterServer covers a locked $2.50 plan beside a $35.00 one.
For a small business, InMotion is the more complete package at a seventh of the price for three years: email in the account, US phone staff and 90 days to decide. Count Kinsta’s separate email bill before comparing monthly rates. Our page on what web hosting costs runs both totals further.
