Hostinger vs GreenGeeks (2026): The Term Decides the Price

GreenGeeks publishes what its plans renew at. What they cost to start took longer to pin down: sources this year put Lite at $2.95, on a term they disagree about. The same GreenGeeks figures against a Cloudways server are in our Cloudways and GreenGeeks comparison.

So the three-year total depends on the term. On a 36-month prepay the two hosts land within two dollars of each other, and on annual terms they are hundreds apart.

The Term Decides the Comparison

Hostinger Premium costs $107.64 across three years. That figure is 36 prepaid months at $2.99.

GreenGeeks Lite opens at $2.95 and renews at $13.95 a month, up from $12.95 earlier this year. On a 36-month prepay it costs $106.20 across three years. On annual terms it costs $370.20, because 24 of those months are billed at the renewal rate. The same GreenGeeks figures set against Newfold Digital’s Bluehost are in our Bluehost and GreenGeeks comparison.

So the answer depends on the term. Prepaid for 36 months, GreenGeeks comes in $1.44 under the $107.64 above, which is level for any practical purpose. On annual terms Hostinger is cheaper by $262.56, and the three-year totals sit here.

Table of three-year totals across every rate GreenGeeks could charge to start

The Short Answer

Hostinger, 4.2 against 3.7. The price depends on the term you sign, so the length of the promotion and the measured speed decide it.

GreenGeeks matches 300 percent of its energy use with renewable credits. That claim is real, and it is not a hosting metric.

What each host charges once the introductory term ends, with the term the multiplier is calculated over — a 6× increase over 12 months and a 2.5× increase over 36 months are not comparable. Bluehost figures read from its own help page; the rest from agreeing independent sources pending a first-party check. Checked 31 August 2026.

Hostinger holds $2.99 for 48 months. GreenGeeks holds $2.95 for 36 months or 12, depending on the source, so the cart is where to check.

Two Different Ways to Report Speed

Neither host is slow. However, the two publish figures that cannot be set against each other directly.

Hostinger appears twice in the benchmark we cite. Business records 223 ms globally and ranks 5th of 34 hosts. Premium records 495 ms and ranks 28th. The difference is a content network, which Premium omits.

GreenGeeks publishes regional figures instead: 395 ms in North America, 447 ms across Europe, and 580 to 610 ms in Asia. No global average appears anywhere we read.

So the only clean comparison is Business at 223 ms, which beats every GreenGeeks region. Premium’s 495 ms cannot be set against a regional number.

Uptime, Where the Ranges Overlap

GreenGeeks records 99.96 to 99.98 percent across several independent accounts. That range means between 1.75 and 3.50 hours of downtime a year.

Hostinger records 99.99 percent by one project and 99.93 by another. That range runs from 0.88 hours to 6.13.

In other words, the best single figure belongs to Hostinger and the tighter range belongs to GreenGeeks. Neither wins this outright.

Where GreenGeeks Is Ahead

The environmental position. It matches 300 percent of its server energy with renewable credits, and one review reports that match as externally verified.

LiteSpeed on every plan, which decides which caching plugin will work on your site.

Four Lines That Do Not Separate Them

Both refund windows run 30 days. Neither host answers a telephone around the clock, unlike hosts with a published line.

On published limits the two fail differently. GreenGeeks restricts its Lite plan to one website. Hostinger publishes no resource limits at all.

Of course, a stated restriction is easier to plan around than silence. That point goes to GreenGeeks.

When to Choose GreenGeeks Instead

The sustainability position matters to you and you have priced what it is worth.

Your visitors are North American or European, where its 395 and 447 millisecond figures apply.

You have confirmed the term behind the $2.95 rate, because sources disagree on it.

How We Research

Every price here comes from our own tables, checked against the source that published it; the GreenGeeks figures were rechecked on 20 September 2026, after its renewal rose to $13.95. The totals are arithmetic on those rates: 36 months at $2.95 for the prepay, and 12 at $2.95 then 24 at $13.95 on annual terms. Where sources disagree, as they do on the term behind the GreenGeeks intro, we say so and show both results.

We run no tests of our own. Our five criteria are on our About page. The long versions are in our Hostinger review and in the GreenGeeks review linked below.

Hostinger vs GreenGeeks FAQ

Which is cheaper, Hostinger or GreenGeeks?

It depends on the term. Prepaid for 36 months, GreenGeeks costs $106.20 against $107.64 at Hostinger, which is level. On annual terms GreenGeeks reaches $370.20, because its renewal is $13.95, and Hostinger is cheaper by $262.56.

What does GreenGeeks cost to start?

Sources this year, including the benchmark project we cite, put Lite at $2.95 a month. They disagree on whether that rate needs a 36-month or a 12-month term, so confirm the term in the cart before committing.

Which is faster?

Hostinger Business at 223 ms globally beats every GreenGeeks regional figure, as we set out separately. Hostinger Premium records 495 ms globally, which cannot be compared directly with a regional number.

Which has better uptime?

Neither outright. GreenGeeks sits between 99.96 and 99.98 percent. Hostinger spans 99.93 to 99.99, so it holds the best single figure and the wider range.

Is GreenGeeks genuinely a green host?

It matches 300 percent of its server energy use with renewable credits. One 2026 review reports that match as verified by outside sources rather than only claimed.

The Verdict

Hostinger, 4.2 against 3.7, though the price no longer decides it.

In short, the price turns on the term: level on a 36-month prepay, $262.56 in Hostinger’s favor on annual terms. Hostinger wins on the rest, with a promotion that runs four years and the faster measured tier. Our page on Kinsta against GreenGeeks covers a cheap clean load result beside a managed platform.

Choose GreenGeeks if the renewable match decides it for you. Otherwise the longer promotion and the faster tier make Hostinger the safer default. The same GreenGeeks figures set against SiteGround are in our SiteGround and GreenGeeks comparison.
